First, a big THANK YOU to my Room Moms, Stacy Alberts and Kelly Holcomb for the directory that went home with your child today. This is a great way to network with other parents from our class. Don't you love the thick laminating? Stacy and Kelly are planning so many wonderful things for our kids this year! THANK YOU!
Monday is Parent/Teacher Conferences. I can hardly wait to visit with you about your child and our school year so far. Remember, this is a time where you and I will speak freely about what has been happening in class. For this reason, I am asking that you make child care arrangements. The children do not need to hear our adult conversations. I really appreciate your help with this!
Tuesday we will begin our Pumpkin Unit - one of my favorites! Don't forget, if you are able and have time, please send in a mini-pumpkin to school with your child. I'll be sure and take some more pictures of things we are doing in class and update you, especially with this unit!
Wednesday we are heading out to the Arboretum to the pumpkin patch. Each child will be in a group with a parent volunteer. I will send a reminder note home on Tuesday. It will have a checklist of what your child should bring and wear. No guided reading today!
Thursday we are back to our regular schedule.
Friday we'll have Huddle and will share a special time in the afternoon with our Book Buddies. When your child talks about Book Buddies this means our class has paired up with an older class to read or play together. It's a great way to let the older kids mentor the younger ones. It's also a great time for your child to build social skills with other friends who are not in the same grade. It's fun to watch them recognize kids from their neighborhood or siblings they know. Both classes really enjoy this time together. As the year progresses and the children get to know each other better we'll incorporate some lessons and science experiments too.
Two quick things…
1. It’s chilly….send in those jackets! Even the school cafeteria can be very cold!
2. Being able to tie your own shoes is WAY COOL!!!! Be sure your child is practicing this skill at home. I put a cute little song on the Kinder website if you need something else to help teach your child.
Enjoy the fall weather this weekend!
